Logan Verjus van Beek is a New Zealand-Dutch cricketer who was born on September 7, 1990, in Christchurch, New Zealand. His paternal grandparents gave him a Dutch passport when they landed in New Zealand in the 1950s. He is the grandson of Trinidad-born former West Indies and New Zealand dual international Sammy Guillen on his mother’s side.
Van Beek made his international debut in the 2012 Clydesdale Bank 40 against English county Essex. Because ICC rules obliged him to wait three years after playing for New Zealand to qualify for the Netherlands, he had to play as an overseas professional. The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh was his first big international competition for the Netherlands.
Since 2012, he has represented the Netherlands national cricket team as well as Wellington in New Zealand domestic cricket. He bats right-handed and bowls fast-medium right-arm.
He was nominated to the Dutch squad for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B event in Zimbabwe in July 2022. In their group encounter against Hong Kong, he became the Netherlands’ first bowler to take a hat-trick in a T20I.
