Luis Albeiro Cortés Rendón was ordained as a priest on December 8, 1978. The second Pope, John Paul II. On the same day, May 14, 2003, he was named the first bishop of the diocese of Vélez, which was founded on the same day.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Colombia, Archbishop Beniamino Stella, consecrated him bishop on September 27. In June of the same year, Tulio Duque Gutiérrez SDS, Bishop of Pereira, and Fabio Suescn Mutis, Military Bishop of Colombia, were co-consecrators.
Pope Francis appointed him Titular Bishop of Fidoloma and Auxiliary Bishop of Pereira on November 30, 2015.
