Amnesty International believes that a legitimate investigation should be conducted into the unresolved death of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died while in jail and which includes claims of torture and other forms of ill-treatment in prison.
When the so-called morality police in Tehran unfairly charged her three days prior to her death, the nation’s brutal, rude, and ludicrous veiling laws were still in effect.
Mahsa Amini, 22, was reportedly visiting the Iranian capital with her family when she was taken into custody by authorities on Tuesday. In the Islamic republic, women must adhere to a strict dress code that includes the requirement that they cover their heads in public.
According to official Iranian media sources, her body has been delivered to the medical examiner’s office.
Amini, who was once healthy, was taken to the hospital shortly after being detained and, according to her family, passed suddenly today.
