Newcastle United’s Matthew Thomas Ritchie is a winger in the Premier League who was born on September 10, 1989. From 2015 until 2018, Ritchie played for the Scotland national team. He had previously played for Portsmouth, Swindon Town, and Bournemouth before joining Newcastle United in 2016.
He joined Swindon Town on loan in 2010, but due to Portsmouth’s growing injury list, he was recalled in March and featured on the bench for their 2-0 Premier League loss to Tottenham Hotspur after making four appearances for Swindon. He made his League debut for Portsmouth against Wigan Athletic on 14 April.
Matt Ritchie played 79 minutes before being replaced by Frédéric Piquionne. Ritchie admitted after the game that making his Portsmouth debut was a dream come true. After Portsmouth’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed at the end of the season, he signed a new two-year contract.
