Niel Chandler was birthed in Australia on May 6, 1949. Niel Chandler was a half-forward flank player in the Australian Football League where he played for teams like Welshpool in his amateur career, Carlton football club where he had his professional debut and St.Kilda football club.

Niel made his debut with Carlton from the bench against Essendon at Windy Hill, a suburb of the Melbourne metropolitan area and since then, he never looked back.

He became a regular player and won three championships in 1968, 1970 and 1972. He was unstoppable and contributed massively to Carlton’s eight Grand Finals which they won 6 flags.

Injuries started to sideline Niel chandler and prevented Carlton football club from defending their title against Richmond football club, one of the heavy defeats they suffered during their dominance in the late 1960s.

Niel Chandler was not known to be suffering from a particular illness. According to sources he died in his home at the age of 73 years.
