About OGC Nice Football Club

OGC Nice is a professional football club hailing from France and is based in the beautiful city of Nice. Established in the year 1904, the club currently competes in the prestigious Ligue 1, which is the highest level of football in France. When it comes to home matches, Nice proudly hosts them at the magnificent Allianz Riviera stadium.

Originally known as Gymnaste Club de Nice, this club holds the honour of being one of the founding members of the top division of French football. The team proudly dons the colours red and black, which symbolize their passion and determination on the field.

During the glorious era of the 1950s, Nice made a name for themselves by being one of the first French clubs to successfully incorporate international players into their squad. Among the notable players who graced the team during this period were Héctor De Bourgoing, Pancho Gonzales, Victor Nurenberg, and Joaquín Valle. The latter, in particular, holds the esteemed title of being the club’s all-time leading goalscorer and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever donned the Nice jersey.

Trophies Won By OGC Nice Football Club

Faithful to the club’s ideals, OGC Nice have a strong reputation for producing young talents, regardless of their age. “We don’t look at the age of a player when placing them in a youth group,” explains Nice Academy director Manu Pires. “What’s important to us is their ability, their qualities. If a 16-year-old has the level to play in the Under-19s or even the reserves, we won’t hesitate for a second.”

This clear willingness to develop each individual – underlined by the growing number of young Aiglons called up for international duty – does not prevent the teams from performing as a unit.

Not only did the U19s win the prestigious Coupe Gambardella in 2012, the reserves play in the fifth-tier National 3, while the U19s and U17s regularly compete in the upper reaches of the various national championships.
