Otis Taylor was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round (29th overall) of the 1965 AFL Draft. He was also chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixteenth round of the 1965 NFL Draft. Otis Taylor decided to spend the rest of his career playing with the Chiefs in the AFL.
Taylor was second in the AFL in receiving yards (1,297) after catching five touchdown passes, and he also led the league with a 22.4-yard/catch average in his second season. He was selected for the 1966 AFL All-Star team and was named to the First Team All-AFL at the conclusion of the season.
