A professional baseball second baseman with the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball, Ozhaino Jurdy Jiandro “Ozzie” Albies was born in Curaçao on January 7, 1997. (MLB). Albies joined the Braves organization in 2013, and in 2017 the team was where he made his Major League Baseball debut. Albies was chosen to play in the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game during his first complete season. In 2019 and 2021, he doubled as the second baseman winner of the National League Silver Slugger Award. The Heart & Hustle Award was given to him in 2021.

Albies’ parents, Osgarry and Judari, welcomed him into the world in Curaçao’s capital city of Willemstad. In 2013, his father suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 40. Albies’ younger brother Zhhihir and sister Jeanalyn are still alive.

When Albies was six years old, he began playing baseball. In 2013, he learned to switch-hit. Albies was signed on July 2, 2013, by the Atlanta Braves as an international free agent for $350,000 after being discovered by the team’s Curaçao-based scout Dargello Lodowica.
