Peter John Kay is an English actor, musician, and stand-up comedian who was born on July 2, 1973. Bolton is where he was born and raised. He attended Mount Saint Joseph School and graduated with a GCSE in art.

He has written, produced, and starred in several television and film projects, and he has also written three books.

At the University of Salford, he majored in media performance and began working as a stand-up comedian on the side, winning the North West Comedian of the Year award.

When Kay won the Channel 4 “So You Think You’re Funny” competition in 1997, he was nominated for a Perrier Award the following year for his work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

His father, Michael John Kay, was a well-known engineer who died just before Peter began his career. His mother, Margaret Deirdre O’Neill, is an Irish Catholic who grew up in Coalisland, County Tyrone, and Peter was raised in her faith.

He is his parent’s only child.
