The retired Canadian news anchor, who is of British descent, served as a head correspondent for CBC News and the host of The National, CBC Television’s premier evening newscast, from 1988 until 2017.
Mansbridge has won numerous prizes for his journalism work and has previously hosted CBC News Network’s Mansbridge One on One.
One of his honours comes from Mount Allison University, where he was chancellor until the end of 2017. He also holds an honorary doctorate from that institution.
After covering Canada’s 150th-anniversary celebrations, Mansbridge announced on September 5, 2016, that he would leave his position as chief correspondent and anchor on July 1, 2017.
He and his family currently reside in Stratford, Ontario.
