Purple Hearts Movie Summary
Purple Hearts is about a couple who married despite scarcely knowing one other. Cassie is a waitress and aspiring singer-songwriter. Luke is a marine with drug dealer debts. Cassie can’t afford health insurance, and Luke’s previous heroin dealer is threatening him to pay up. Luke and Cassie are summoned to a court over their fictitious union. Luke is told not to speak, yet he nonetheless does so.
He admits that he coerced Cassie into getting married to him and that he wants to take full accountability. Luke is therefore declared guilty and given a six-month jail term with a dishonorable discharge. But as a result, Cassie is not charged. After signing a record deal, Cassie sings at the Hollywood Bowl as Purple Hearts comes to a close.
Cassie departs in her car to say farewell to Luke before he leaves to begin his sentence almost immediately after she finishes her performance. After her impassioned statement, they share a kiss.
