On March 26, 2010, in Helsinki, Helenius defeated Gbenga Oloukun despite breaking a bone near his right hand’s knuckles.

Against the unbeaten Grégory Tony in August 2010, Helenius won the vacant EU heavyweight title. On November 27, 2010, Helenius defeated Attila Levin via technical knockout to begin the defense of his championship. He also won the vacant WBO Intercontinental title at the same fight.
