Children are playing tennis more frequently, but Draper’s administration was criticized for failing to boost adult participation rates.

Tennis has not fared well in terms of participation, according to Sport England chief executive Jennie Price, who told Press Association Sport when she revealed in December 2012 that £10.3 million of the LTA’s total budget of £17.4 million had been put on hold.

The money was later given to the LTA by Sport England. Draper and the LTA came under more fire once it was revealed that his pay at the LTA was £640,000 in 2012, including from Baroness Billingham, the head of Parliament’s All-Party Tennis Group.
