#BringBackAzonto became a social media trend after rapper Sarkodie said there’s a need to revive the ‘dead’ Ghanaian music genre.

After his call, a few fellow musicians decided to help push the agenda — the likes of E.L among others came on board.

Well, some people felt offended by Sarkodie’s initiative, especially Gasmilla.

The ‘Telemo’ hitmaker claims Sarkodie didn’t call him personally on phone to join the ‘movement of Azonto revival’ so he won’t join to push the agenda.

He then went on to brag that he (Gasmilla) is the originator of Azonto music and not Sarkodie as many people are trying to claim.

Gasmilla also alleged that Sarkodie is someone who feeds on the ‘shine’ of young artists. That’s to say once a new act is emerging, he associates with him/her in other to stay relevant.

Well, Sarkodie has come out to reply to all these claims by Gasmilla.

In an interview on Okay FM, the rapper said that he’s not the owner of Azonto Genre and that he’s not in any way laying claims on it.

However, if he starts something and someone doesn’t want to join, it’s not by force and if the person wants to join too, why not?

Sarkodie also remarked that he has an unreleased song with Gasmilla that was recorded last year so he doesn’t have anything against the fellow musician.
