Ghanaian afro-gypsy musician, Wanlov the Kubolor while speaking on ZTV about his experience in High School commented on what he personally feels about that level of education.

In his submission, he said he personally thinks the Secondary school system (now known as Senior High School) was created by our colonial masters with the aim of putting fear, discipline, obedience and not really knowledge in people.

Wanlov added that instead of the horrible experiences he had in High school in the name of discipline, he wished he had learnt something worthwhile such as carpentry, masonry etc. instead of the ‘plenty books’ he was forced to cram in his head.

He said: “You have to understand that the secondary school was created by the Europeans to not really impact knowledge but more discipline and fear and obedience not really for knowledge.

The Konkonsa hitmaker continued: “So the teachers were more interested and may be are still interested in showing their power than putting sense in your head”.

The Host of the show then drew his attention to the fact that all those horrible experiences to impact discipline in him were moments that he can remember. But Wanlov responded that he wish he had better experiences.

I wish I had a nicer experience and I came out with more sense in my head. I wish I knew how to build things like carpentry, I wish I knew how to weld but the school didn’t teach that they only gave us ‘books’ books’ books‘, he said in conclusion.
