Kevin Colson, an actor and singer, has a niece named Sia. Sia stated that as a child, she imitated the performing styles of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Sting, whom she credits as early influences. She was a student at Adelaide High.

Sia began her musical career as a singer in the local acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s.

Sia worked with the group and provided vocals for their 1996 albums Word and the Deal and Delirium (1997).

Crisp broke up in 1997, and on December 23rd, Sia’s OnlySee debut studio album was released in Australia on Flavoured Records.

Her music teacher mother Loene Furler and musician father Phil Colson raised her. Sia is the niece of singer-actor Kevin Colson.

Sia claimed that Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Sting were early influences on her and that as a young girl, she imitated their stage personas.

She was an Adelaide High student. In the middle of the 1990s, Sia got her start in music as a singer for the local acid jazz group Crisp.
