South African Football Association have shown coach Molefi Ntseki the exit door after their male National team failed to qualify for the next African cup of Nations tournament.
Bafana Bafana were in group C with one of the continents most feared team, Black stars of Ghana, Sudan, Sao Tome and principe and they were tagged as the heavy favorites to be in Cameroon for the tournament alongside Ghana.
Everything was going well for them until their final group game when they were hosted by Sudan and fall to a shocking 2-0 defeat to the Northeast African giants.
Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe in a communique insists everything was provided for the team to qualify hence the decision to fire the coach for his failure. “Everyone worked around the clock to ensure we would qualify. Emotionally, it has affected the country. The expectation was we would qualify and do well in the finals.”
“[As such] the NEC has responded in favour of parting ways with the coach. The Technical Committee will give us direction on what will happen now [with a new coach] but we hope to reconvene next week to deliver the process going forward.” He said
