About Stoke City Football Club

Stoke City Football Club is a professional team based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The club was originally known as Stoke Ramblers when it was established in 1863, but changed its name to Stoke in 1878 and later became Stoke City in 1925 when Stoke-on-Trent was granted city status. The club’s impressive home ground is the bet365 Stadium, which can accommodate up to 30,089 spectators.

Before the bet365 Stadium was opened in 1997, Stoke City played their home games at the Victoria Ground, starting from 1878. The club is affectionately referred to as The Potters, a nickname derived from the thriving pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent. Their traditional home kit consists of a shirt with red-and-white vertical stripes, paired with white shorts and stockings.

While the majority of support for the club comes from the local Stoke-on-Trent area, there are also fan clubs spread across the globe. Notably, there are fan clubs in London and in various countries ranging from Scandinavia to far-flung places like Russia, Canada, the United States, and Australia.
