Tamo Mibang was born on July 1, 1955, in Jomo village, Siang district, to the late Takar Mibang and the late Yateng Mibang. He was a professor as well as a former vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU).
Prof. Mibang was a distinguished scholar and educator. In 1977, he received his master’s degree from Gauhati University, and in 1988, he graduated with his PhD from Dibrugarh University (Assam).
In 1978, he began working as a lecturer at Jawaharlal Nehru College in Pasighat, where he remained until 1988.

Tamo Mibang passed away on August 6, 2022 at his home in the East Siang district’s Mirku Dapi hamlet following a protracted illness. He was 67 at the time of his death. His obituary is yet to be published.
