The partnership will succeed Roman Abramovich, who was forced to sell the club when the British government sanctioned the Russian oligarch for his ties to Vladimir Putin.
A number of financial ‘big hitters’ have backed Boehly’s coalition.
Swiss billionaire Hansjoerg Wyss, the founder and former chairman of Synthes Holding AG, and US billionaire Mark Walter, the CEO of Guggenheim Partners, a financial services firm with over $310 billion in assets, are among them.
Clearlake Capital, a California-based private equity firm, is also a key member of the consortium, with a 75% stake in the club.
