Harvey Louis Carignan, an American serial killer, was born in Fargo, North Dakota, on May 18, 1927. According to reports, the American serial murderer was given a life sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Institution in Faribault for the slayings of two unidentified women.

In 1949, while enlisting in the American Army in Anchorage, Alaska, Harvey Carignan, as he was more well known, had already been found guilty of rape and murder. In the Territory of Alaska on July 31, 1949, Carignan killed 58-year-old Laura Showalter while attempting to rape her.

He also attempted to rape Christine Norton on September 16, 1949, but was apprehended the next day and found guilty of both first-degree murder and assault with the intent to rape.

At the age of 95, Carignan, who had received the death punishment, passed away in Minnesota Prison in March 2023.
