Igor emulated the steps of his father, Yakov Antonovich Vysotsky, who was an amateur boxer. Yakov Antonovich Vysotsky was also a Naval Infantry in the Soviet Union during the World War II.

Yakov Antonovich Vysotsky and his wife, Meeta Joganovna Suve, had their son Igor Vysotsky on 10 September 1953 in Khabarovsk Krai, Russian SFSR in the Soviet Union. There is little information about Igor’s personal life as to whether he was married or had any children at the time he died.

According to the Russian Boxing Federation, Igor Vysotsky passed away on 2 April 2023. Igor died at the age of 69 years old.
