The Ford Frick Award was given to Scully by the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. He received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award for sportscasting and was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1995. The National Sports Media Association (formerly the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association), which also inducted Scully into its Hall of Fame in 1991, named him California Sportscaster of the Year 33 times and National Sportscaster of the Year four times (1965, 1978, 1982, and 2016). He was inducted into the American Sportscasters Association’s Hall of Fame in 1992, and on its Top 50 list of sportscasters, ASA awarded him, Sportscaster of the Century, in 2000 and the best sportscaster of all time (2009).

Scully was honored in the California Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. 2009 saw the induction of Scully into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame. He received the Ambassador Award of Excellence from the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission on May 11, 2009.
