Wendell Carter Jr. was a member of the 2017 class at Pace Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He led the Knights to a 27-3 record and the Georgia 6AA regional championship as a sophomore while averaging 21.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 4.1 blocks per game.
During the summer of 2015, when he helped the Georgia Stars of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) win the Peach Jam championship and was voted Co-MVP alongside Jared Harper, Carter continued to improve his skills.
Carter also received second-team Atlanta Tipoff Club All Metro accolades and the Georgia Region 6 AA Player of the Year award following his sophomore campaign.
