On Monday, November 5, 1984, Dunsin Oyekan was born in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. He is an Ilorin native who was nurtured by his parents as their only son. His father, Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan, was a founder and member of the “Spiritual Singers,” an Ilorin-based band that placed a strong emphasis on getting to know God through worship. He was also a forerunner of the nation’s Pentecostal movement. Minister Dunsin Oyekan’s musical preferences, songwriting, and instrument playing were significantly influenced by the General Overseer of the Evangelical Baptist Church and his father, Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan. Although it wasn’t feasible, he had genuinely meant for him to pursue music studies at the university.
Dunsin Oyekan started learning the guitar when he was 10 years old. Because he enjoyed gospel music, Dunsin Oyekan’s father frequently brought him to musical concerts and other related Christian gatherings. He also joined the church choir. His father once claimed to have the prophetic ability to see the reanimation of the dead through him when he was much younger. The most terrible experience of his life, in his opinion, was the loss of his father on March 30, 2015, a Monday. His mother was still alive at the time of this collection.
