J. Alejandro Kueng, a former police officer from the United States, was born in 1986. Kueng, who is currently serving a three-year federal prison sentence in Ohio after he and fellow officers Tou Thao and Thomas Lane were previously found guilty in federal court of depriving George Floyd of his civil rights, was expected to make a remote appearance for Friday’s formal sentencing announcement.

On May 25, 2020, Derek Chauvin was working with Kueng, Thao, and Lane when Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, begged the white officer to let him breathe, and Chauvin used his knee to hold Floyd’s neck to the ground for more than nine minutes. Kueng knelt on Floyd’s back, Lane held his legs, and Thao kept onlookers at a distance, according to body camera and cell phone footage from the scene.
