J. Alejandro Kueng is a former American police officer who was born in 1986. A sentence of 3 1/2 years in prison for manslaughter is anticipated for the former Minneapolis police officer who kneeled on George Floyd’s back while another officer kneeled on the Black man’s neck on Friday.

In October, Alexander Kueng entered a guilty plea to a state charge of encouraging second-degree manslaughter. The day before the start of jury selection in his trial, the plea was entered. It was his guilty plea, along with another officer’s choice to let the judge decide his fate, that prevented Floyd’s slaying from going to a third torturous trial.

Kueng will participate in the sentencing hearing on Friday via video from a low-security federal prison in Ohio. Kueng is already serving a federal sentence for violating Floyd’s civil rights. Although Kueng has the option to speak out, it is unknown whether he will.
