Shoichiro Toyoda, who is best known for his role in expanding and modernizing Toyota Motor Corporation, was a famous Japanese business executive.

He served Toyota Motor Corporation from 1992 to 1999, and also served the important Japan Business Federation from 1994 to 1998. However, with Toyoda’s direction, Toyota gave the go-ahead for the creation of the Prius hybrid and the Lexus brand.

Toyoda attended Tokyo First Middle School (now Hibiya High School) and Tokyo First High School (now Tokyo University), and he got an engineering BS degree from Nagoya Imperial University (now Nagoya University) in 1947.

In 1955, he also receive a Ph.D. from Tohoku University. The Toyoda family had effects on both the domestic and family business fronts during the height of World War II’s Pacific theater. He started his career in the company’s production engineering division, where he worked on developing new manufacturing processes and improving production efficiency.

Soichiro Toyoda died of Heart Failure, he was 97 years old at the time of his death, and he died on February 14, 2023.
