Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, both from Suresnes, France, were the two members. Homem-Christo was born on February 8, 1974, and Bangalter was born on January 3, 1975.
Bangalter and Homem-Christo met while attending a high school in Paris. The two decided to shift their musical path in 1993 following a brief spell in the rock band Darlin’. This was after they encountered electronic dance music (such as house and techno) at underground raves and nightclubs.
A larger audience was helped by the cheerful song “Around the World,” which included a looped, electronically processed vocal. Their first album, Homework (1997), helped them gain further popularity in the dance music community.
