His ancestors include Danish, English, German, and Irish, and in the 2016 Finding Your Roots episode, he discovered that he is a descendant of royal figures such as Charlemagne, Charles Martel, and King Edward I.

Hader attended Patrick Henry Elementary, Edison Junior High, and Cascia Hall Preparatory.

He grew up with writer Duffy Boudreau, with whom he later collaborated.

He claims he “had difficulty focusing in class.”
