Maya Millete was a Filipino American civilian employee of the United States Navy. Before she went missing, she was working as a contract specialist at the Naval Information Warfare Center.

Reportedly, her disappearance caught national-wide attention after Good Morning America reported the news on April 6, 2021. Moreover, her relatives appeared on Dr. Phil the following week.

Maya Millete disappeared without any whereabouts on January 7, 2021, from Chula Vista, California.

Reportedly, she was last seen at around 5 AM. Multiple sources confirm that she had called a divorce attorney the same day.

Two days later, on January 9, her sister, Maricris Drouaillet filed a report claiming that Maya had been lost. Even after a year, the search is ongoing.

Several volunteers were involved as they searched for Maya in Mount San Miguel Park. The investigators got a search warrant on January 23 at Millete’s home.

Unfortunately, they were unable to find anything related to her disappearance. Interestingly, Maya’s maternal family hired a private investigator to find her.

When she was not located for more than a month, her family along with the Chula Vista Police Department raised public awareness. Since then, several people have been involved in trying to find her whereabouts.

In February, authorities found skeletal remains which were presumed to be Maya’s. However, the medical reports denied it as the remains belonged to an animal.

Since her missing, volunteers have searched the Glamis dunes, Lower Otay Lake, National City, and an abandoned golf course. In July, many celebrated Filipino-American Friendship Day where they raised further awareness regarding Maya’s missing case.

As per the latest update, Maya Millete is presumed to be dead as her missing status remains the same.

After she was not reported anywhere for a year, a prayer vigil was held. Nevertheless, the search continued throughout January 2022.
