Ronald Rivera was born in Washington, D.C. on January 7, 1962, and currently serves as the head coach of the National Football League team known as the Washington Commanders. In the early 1980s, he pursued his education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he went on to earn All-American linebacker honors for the school’s football team, the Golden Bears.

Rivera was hired by the Carolina Panthers to serve as their head coach and would go on to become the franchise’s all-time leader in victories. In addition to this, the NFL named him Coach of the Year in both 2013 and 2015, and the club he coached competed in Super Bowl 50 under his leadership.

What happened to Ron Rivera?

Ron’s head coach contract ended in the middle of the 2019 season because the team’s new owners wanted to make changes. In 2020, Rivera will be the head coach of the Washington Capitals.

In that year, he was told he had squamous cell carcinoma, but by the beginning of 2021, he had been given the necessary treatment to set him free from the disease.
