African American parents gave birth on March 14, 1949, to William “Billy” Garland. Garland was the biological father of Tupac Shakur. The first group of Sub-Saharan African-American immigrants were Garland’s great-grandparents.

His regal pedigree from the Sub-Saharan African kingdom known as the Garamantes culture, contemporary day’s direct ancestors of the Tuareg people, earned him the birth surname “Garland,” which means “The Crown of a King.”

He belonged to the Black Panther Party and was a black activist. He remained close to Afeni Shakur and is Lesane Parish Crooks’ biological father, better known as Tupac Shakur. Garland did very little to assist in raising his kid, meeting him only sometimes until Tupac was about five years old.

What Happened To Tupac Shakur’s Father?

Garland didn’t see Tupac again until he made an appearance in the 1992 movie “Juice.” Later, following Shakur’s shooting in 1994, he visited him at Bellevue Hospital. Shakur was told by his mother that his father had died. Garland claimed that The Notorious B.I.G. approached him while he was visiting Tupac in the hospital and that he didn’t believe that The Notorious B.I.G. was responsible for the shooting.

After Tupac passed away, Afeni and Billy sent his blood to Long Beach Genetics. In a laboratory analysis of Shakur’s DNA, it was discovered that 99.97% of the time, Afeni and Billy were most likely his parents.

In court after Tupac Shakur’s passing, Billy Garland and Afeni Shakur made an attempt to obtain a portion of his wealth, but their motion was denied. The matter was settled for approximately $540,000 plus slightly over $350,000 in attorney expenses. In 1999, Billy passed away.
