Manchester United has announced the signing of Ajax manager Erik ten Haag to a three-year contract to take over its coaching staff at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
He will be under contract until June 2025 with the option of an additional year.
Erik ten Hag, born on 2 February 1970, is a Dutch professional football manager and former player, Ten Hag also won the Eerste Divisie with De Graafschap in the 1990–91 season, ten years before winning the cup with FC Twente.
He retired from active playing in 2002 at the age of 32 while playing for FC Twente, after the end of the 2001–02 Eredivisie season.
What has ten Hag won?
He was the manager of AFC Ajax, where he won two Eredivisie titles and led the team to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2019. On 5 May 2019, he won his first management title with Ajax, 2018–19.
Ten Hag then became the Sporting Director and head coach of Utrecht in the summer of 2015, where he led the club to fifth place during his first season. In the 2016–17 season, he improved Utrecht’s final position to fourth, booking a place in the Europa League qualifiers
