Lee Michael Zeldin was born in the country on January 30, 1980. He is an attorney, politician, and reserve officer in the US Army. He is a Republican who has served as the US House of Representatives representative for New York’s first congressional district since 2015.

Zeldin represents the eastern two-thirds of Suffolk County, which includes most of Smithtown, all of Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southold, Southampton, East Hampton, and a tiny piece of Islip. He also represents the entirety of Southampton. Zeldin represented the 3rd Senate district while serving in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2014. Throughout his tenure in government, Zeldin unflinchingly supported Donald Trump.

Zeldin was born in East Meadow, New York, the son of David Zeldin and Merrill Schwartz. He was up in Mastic Beach, New York, and graduated from William Floyd High School in 1998. He also attended Hebrew school. At SUNY University at Albany, Zeldin earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2001. His Albany Law School career came to an end in May 2003 when he received his Juris Doctor. The New York State Bar granted him admission in 2004.
