On August 30, 1920, Leonid Aronovich Shvartsman was born, and on July 2, 2022, he will pass away. Graphic designer and animator Shvartsman was from Belarus and the Soviet Union.

At the Soyuzmultfilm studio in Moscow, where he spent the majority of his artistic career, Shvartsman oversaw the visual design for a number of cartoons, including Cheburashka, 38 Parrots, The Golden Antelope, The Scarlet Flower, and The Snow Queen.

Shvartsman was homeless, had no parents or siblings, and was therefore unable to pursue a career in the arts, therefore he focused more on the fringes of the art world.

After submitting an application to the VGIK film school in 1945, he was hired by Soyuzmultfilm in 1951 and remained there for the remainder of his career.

Shvartsman is given credit for 70 films that the studio has produced.

Shvartsman, is a left-handed person.
