Prayar Gopalakrishnan born in 1949, was an Indian National Congress Politician from Kollam, India. He was a president of the Travancore Devaswom Board and also an MLA of Kerala and a member of KPCC. During his time as president of the Devaswom Board, he opposed allowing women to enter the Sabarimala shrine.

Through the Kerala students union, Prayar began his political career. Prayar was the Kollam district president of KSU and the youth congress.

In 2001 he was elected to Kerala legislative assembly from the Chadayamangalam constituency. He worked as the chairman of the state-run milk cooperative society for Milma for a long time.

Prayar passed away on June 4, 2022, at age 73 after suffering from a heart attack while on his way to Thiruvananthapuram from Kollam.

Even though he was rushed to a private medical college immediately, the doctors couldn’t save him.

He is survived by his wife S. Sudharma and 3 children; Dr. Rani Krishna, Dr. Veni Krishna, and Vishnu G. Krishna.
