Sturgeon joined a Glasgow law company as a solicitor in 1992 after earning a law degree from the University of Glasgow, but her true passion has always been politics.

Sturgeon, who was a few weeks away from turning 22 at the time of the 1992 British general election, was the country’s youngest parliamentary candidate. During the first election for the Scottish Parliament (MSP) in 1999, she was elected to a seat.

The Scottish Politician of the Year Award was given to Sturgeon in 2008, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2019.

Sturgeon was ranked second in the United Kingdom and 50th overall by Forbes magazine in 2016.
