Visvaldis George Nagobads, was a Physician, who was born in Riga, Latvia, on November 18, 1921, and was Inducted into the Golden Gophers Hockey Hall of Fame, and also the United States Hockey Hall of Fame as an individual and as a member of the US men’s national team, as well as the Paul Loicq Award for contributions to international hockey. All these awards were given to him, in honor of his career.

George Nagobads completed his medical studies at the University of Tübingen in Germany. He worked on a mobile X-ray device for a global refugee group in France, during World War II, so as to help with tuberculosis diagnosis.

He once had lunch with a Minnesota-based Christian minister who suggested that he move to the United States since it was simpler to find work in the medical industry there.

In June 1951, he relocated to Minnesota with his wife. While he was still learning English, he worked as a hospital orderly. And after finishing his surgical residency, he started working for the University of Minnesota’s student health services in 1956.

When Did George Nagobads Die?

George Nagobads died on March 31, 2023, at the age of 101.
