Tai Anthony Tuivasa, an Australian mixed martial artist, was born on March 16, 1993. Tuivasa was born in Sydney to a Wiradjuri Indigenous Australian mother and a Samoan father. He was raised in the western Sydney suburb of Mount Druitt with 11 siblings and spent most of his formative years playing rugby league. He was signed by the Sydney Roosters rugby league team in 2010, but he quit the game after developing a gambling addiction.
Tuivasa is now a Heavyweight competitor in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). On February 14, 2022, he is ranked third in the UFC heavyweight standings.

When did Tuivasa join UFC?

In November 2016, it was disclosed that Tuivasa had signed a four-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Tuivasa asserts that a knee injury and subsequent surgery led him to lose a sizable amount of time.

Tuivasa debuted in the UFC on November 19, 2017, at UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Tybura, when he faced Rashad Coulter. Tuivasa, the first indigenous Australian to win a UFC fight, used a flying knee to finish off his opponent in the first round. For this triumph, he also got the Performance of the Night bonus.

At UFC 221 on February 11, 2018, Tuivasa faced off against Cyril Asker. He won by a technical knockout in the opening round.
