In Khazar, Rudolf Atamalyan started his career in 1965. He went back to Baku and joined Neftchi’s reserve squad.

In 1966, Rudolf Atamalyan moved to Ararat from Yerevan. Then Atamalyan traveled to the Sverdlovsk Uralmash, from where he traveled from Chisinau to Nistra. In his first season, he played 11 games and scored one goal, hitting the Dynamo Kyiv gates, to assist the team in reaching the top league.

Atamalyan’s final team was the Tyumen Neftyanik. After earning his degree from the Higher School of Coaches, he went back to Tyumen. In 1988, Rudolf Atamalyan served as the “Geologist.”
