Francis Joseph, an English former footballer who played as a forward for numerous Football League clubs between 1980 and 1992, including Wimbledon, Brentford, Reading, Sheffield United, Crewe Alexandra, Fulham, Barnet, and Gillingham, was born on March 6th, 1960, and passed away on November 18th, 2022.

In his Football League debut against Darlington at home, Joseph scored after being brought on as a replacement.

After establishing himself as a regular member of Wimbledon’s first squad, Joseph was named the team’s “Player of the Year” at the conclusion of his rookie campaign.

Despite making over 100 appearances for Brentford over a five-year period, Joseph never fully recovered his form and left in July 1987 to join Reading for £20,000.

Before leaving Brentford, Joseph spent time on loan at Wimbledon and HJK Helsinki in Finland in the early part of 1987.

In 1988, while playing for Reading, he also spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers and Aldershot.

Dave Bassett, the manager of Sheffield United at the time, acquired Joseph on a free transfer from Wimbledon in July 1988.
