Christian Atsu Twasam, born on January 10, 1992, died around February 6, 2023; confirmed to have passed away on February 18) was a Ghanaian professional footballer who played primarily on the wing but also as an attacking midfielder or left back.

Atsu began his career with Porto and also played for Rio Ave on loan for a season. He joined the club permanently in May 2017 after spending the 2016–17 season on loan at Newcastle United.

He played for Al Raed in Saudi Arabia and Hatayspor in Turkey after his four-year contract ended. He was 31 years old when he died in the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake.

Atsu was a full international who won 65 caps between 2012 and 2019. He played for Ghana at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. At the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where he won Player of the Tournament and Goal of the Tournament, he helped the team finish as runners-up.

Where Is Christian Atsu From?

Christian Atsu was born in Ada Foah, Ghana, which is part of the Greater Accra Region. He was a student at the Feyenoord Football Academy in Gomoah Fetteh, which is now the West African Football Academy in Sogakope, Ghana, in the Volta Region.
