Eugene Allen Hackman, was born on January 30, 1930, he is a retired American actor and writer. Hackman won two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, four Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Silver Bear over his more than 60-year career.

Hackman has won two Academy Awards, one for Best Actor for his portrayal of Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in William Friedkin’s critically acclaimed thriller The French Connection (1971), and the other for Best Supporting Actor for his work as “Little” Bill Daggett in Clint Eastwood’s 1992 Western picture Unforgiven. He also appeared in I Never Sang for My Father (1970), Mississippi Burning (1988), and Bonnie and Clyde (1967), all of which received Oscar nominations for him.

Hackman started his acting career in 1956. He joined the Pasadena Playhouse in California where he made friends with Dustin Hoffman, another young actor. Hackman and Hoffman, who were already seen as outsiders by their peers, were chosen as “The Least Likely To Succeed”and Hackman received the lowest rating the Pasadena Playhouse had ever awarded.

After quitting acting, Gene Hackman wrote many books, including Payback at Morning Peak and Pursuit. He currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and also makes few public appearances.
