Marshall Herff Applewhite Jr. also known as Marshall Applewhite was born on May 17, 1931, in Spur, Texas. Marshall Applewhite was an American religious leader who founded Heaven’s Gate, an American new religious movement which was founded in 1974.
Educationally, Marshall Applewhite went to Austin College, got hitched, and spent two years in the Army. Surprisingly, Marshall Applewhite had a natural gift for public speaking from a young age. Applewhite accepted a job teaching at the University of Alabama after trying his luck as an actor in New York City, but he was fired after engaging in sexual activity with a male student. Later, he rose to lead the music department at a college in Houston.
Marshall Applewhite was married to Ann Pearce and they had two children called Mark and Lane Applewhite.
