Ronnie Davis, is a Jamaican reggae singer, who sang with The Tennors, The Itals, and Ronnie Davis & Idren, he was born in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica, in 1950.
He started his singing career by entering regional talent competitions in the early 1960s. Davis major break came in 1969, when Clive Murphy, the group’s director, offered him to join The Tennors to take the position of the recently dead Maurice Johnson. Back in late 1960 and early 1970, Davis released a number of songs with the band, but he always wished for a solo career.
Davis collaborated with producer Lloyd Campbell on the song “Won’t You Come Home,” which went to number one on the charts, In 1975. Davis also made a significant amount of recordings with Bunny Lee, who produced his 1977 solo album and much of it was released on the erroneously named Sing Hits From Studio 1 And More in 1998.
Davis collaborated with producers like Phil Pratt, Lloydie Slim, and Lee “Scratch” Perry. During 1970, Davis had a number of singles, including “Jah Jah Jehovah,” “Forget Me Now,” “On and On,” “Babylon Falling,” “Fancy Make Up,” and one of his best-known solo songs, “It’s Raining.”
