William Robert Jolyon Turnbull was an English journalist and television and radio broadcaster who worked in broadcasting for more than 40 years. He was born in January 1956. He started out in radio, working for programs including Today on BBC Radio 4 and Radio Clyde.
Before assuming his most illustrious job as the primary male presenter of BBC Breakfast, which he held for fifteen years between 2001 and 2016, he hosted BBC News 24 and BBC Radio 5 Live. Later in his career, he hosted the quiz show Think Tank and the devotional program Songs of Praise, as well as served as a presenter on the radio station Classic FM.
