Steven Gregory Stayner (April 18, 1965 – September 16, 1989) was a kidnapped victim from the United States. Stayner, a seven-year-old boy, was taken on December 4, 1972, in Merced, California, by child molester Kenneth Parnell.

He was held captive by his abductor 38 miles (61 kilometers) away in Mariposa County, California, and later in Mendocino County, California, until the age of 14, when he escaped alongside another of Parnell’s victims, Timothy White.

Steven Stayner was the third of five children born in Merced, California to Delbert and Kay Stayner. Cary, his older brother, was one of three sisters he had. Cary was convicted and sentenced to death for the killings of four people in 2002.

He also assisted child abduction organizations, spoke to children about personal safety, and gave interviews about his captivity. Just before his death, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Stayner was working at a pizza shop in Merced at the time of his death.

Steven Stayner is dead. He died on 16 September 1989 in Merced, California, U.S., at the age of 24.
