Wonder’s employment of synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments as a virtual one-man band during the 1970s changed R&B norms.
He also aided in the evolution of such genres into the album period, constructing his LPs to be cohesive and consistent, as well as socially conscious statements with intricate compositions.
Wonder, who had been blind since birth, was a child prodigy who signed with Motown’s Tamla label at the age of 11 and was given the professional moniker Little Stevie Wonder.
