Harris was born in Bermondsey, London, on March 25, 1933. He started out as a musician in the early 1950s, and his energetic stage presence and catchy songs quickly made him popular. “Rockin’ at the Two I’s,” “Wild One,” and “Got a Match?” are among his best-known songs. He began performing with Tommy Steele, Adam Faith, Screaming Lord Sutch, and others at The 2i’s Coffee Bar in Soho, London, where he was the resident pianist.
